The Suicide Hotline Club (NaNoWriMo Novel)
a blurb:
Talk to the voice on the phone Go on Ask and he’ll speak of your freedom
Give your tears to the stranger Wonder, Who he may be doesn’t matter
Search a bit of your soul to share You dare Trust in a voice that was never there

Older Pt. 2
I never planned to be this old. I never planned to grow up. Not with the jobs or marriage or kids. In my head I will never get there, thinking that I will probably die before that time would come. Death seems to be a better end than life. I immersed myself in dreams of grandeur. I wanted to achieve everything while young. I always felt I am running out of time for my dreams.
It makes me wonder, however, if I somehow do achieve everything while I’m young, what else would there be left to want as I grow older? Everything would be a parody of things I wanted. I would be indulging in the leftovers of my desires. I realized then, that the fruit of one’s labor is the labor itself, and everything else is just scrap. And funny in this sense, I am thankful I haven’t achieved my dreams yet, scared of running out, not of time, but dreams.

Voices in My Head
As I grow older, I remember the time when the voices in my head were easier to ask to stop. Nowadays, I need to shout at the voices. I need to drown them with the sound of my real voice. There have… become increasingly harder to shut up.

On Beauty
When we discuss beauty, you have to keep in mind its definition.
Through my humble understanding, beauty is somewhat rare. In a world where mediocrity thrives, it’s refreshing to see something that pleases the eye. Perfection, it may be.
Do you know the golden mean? When I was in Drawing class, my teacher discussed that the best illustrations always follow a rule. The golden mean. When I was researching about writing, I came across “The Heroes Journey”, a tried-and-tested rule for every successful story ever told. Another golden mean.
It makes me wonder, therefore, what is beauty anyway? Is it the rarity that follows perfection? It seemed so. The human face is considered attractive through its semblance to the Golden Mean… If that is so, then everything beautiful is not only perfect, not only fine, but the same.
The question, therefore is this.. Beauty is precious because it is rare, but if you think about it, those rare pieces of jewelry are almost always identical. Do you, then, settle for one of these identical pieces when there is an abundance of imperfect little gems, all waiting to be recognized. They are flawed, yes… But unique.

Ignorance as Bliss
I was reminded of my childhood just a little while ago, as I saw a streak of white foam drawn on the sky. I remember when I was a kid, I’ve thought of it as a weird cloud, magic, maybe, or angels drawing a line on the sky.
When you grow a little older you find out it’s nothing but a jet plane’s fart. Funny how when you understand things, they begin to look so achingly simple, you’d wonder...

Mirrors Tell the Truth... Sorta
Sometimes mirrors are frustrating because you look good in some while you look absolutely unattractive on others! I’ve often wondered why this is. Maybe it’s the trick of the light? Or how the mirror was made? But then you suddenly realize… aren’t people’s eyes the same way? : )

Bottom Sucker
There was a time when I talked to my dad and he said “We’ve hit bottom low, you know… So I know that there’s no other way for us but up.”
The words were meant to be uplifting. It felt good to hear, but sadly, I knew better. There is no such thing as bottom low. Maybe there is, but what we are, isn’t. There was a nudge in my belly that said,
“No Pops, there are 6 Billion more bottom lows in the world. We’re not bottom low… And I don’t think there’s a bottom.”

The Storyteller [Poem]
The Storyteller September 18, 2008 3:37am Look and see through doors beyond And enter worlds your dreams are fond My words in prime can wound or heal As sure as same can do instill a truth a lie a moment’s dream of luck or lack; Which door you deem, Depends if you’ll take time to stare Onto my eyes of darkest glare My sun-scorched travels now I bid Behind my tongue you’ll find what’s hid The words...

Memories
Memories often feel like old forgotten trinkets at the back of your mind's cupboard, patiently waiting for you to wipe the dust off of them to reveal their beauty. Admire them. They deserve it.
